About the Summer Hockey Camp

The “Druzhba '78” Hockey Club and School will be hosting an open hockey camp from July, 10 until August, 30, 2008. World renowned coach IVAN PRAVILOV will provide students with the unique hockey training methods that made his coaching in such vast demand in the world. It is his philosophy that the talent level of hockey players is directly related to their skating ability therefore, the drills performed focus primarily on edgework and power skating both on the ice and in dry land training. Ivan Pravilov not only enhances his students with his unique techniques, but has the outstanding ability to bring the best performance out of each individual student. All players attending Ivan Pravilov's Summer Hockey Camp will receive a personal training and instruction in relation to their previous skill level and experience.

Exclusively instructed by Ivan Pravilov and his World champion team “Druzhba’78”, Ivan Pravilov’s Unique Hockey School provides youth hockey players from many countries with the most intense, progressive and innovate instructional program based on Ivan Pravilov’s Special methods.

Team Druzhba’78 conquered many cities in the U.S.A, Canada, Mexico, Czech Republic and other countries. It is considered to be the best team in the world. Its play is a performance on ice! Team Druzhba’78’s achievements and credentials are unmatched. The "Druzhba’78" has won practically all the prestigious children's and youth tournaments in the World. These dramatic successes are achieved due to Ivan Pravilov’s unique coaching philosophy and which has proven to develop up to 90% of a players physical capability. His approach also promotes sportsmanship, enables each student to more fully understand themselves in the process of developing sound moral and human qualities. Students are urged and taught to understand and take full advantage of their individual qualities and to translate these into sound hockey participation.

As Americans and Canadians watch Druzhba’78 compete, they are continually amazed at the skill and control that the Ukrainian team has developed for the game of hockey. Druzhba’s style demonstrates that with hard work and determination high levels of success can be achieved.

Here are some quotations:

“It is the best team from all those who haven take part in the Tournament for the 33 years of existence.” – Alex Leger, President of the International PeeWee Tournament in Quebec City, Canada.

“To win against – it would be greater than ’80 Olympics” – a Boston newspaper.

“Ukrainian Magicians on ice” – Washington Post.

“Just how good is their play? The word ‘good’ doesn’t do them justice. A word like ‘superior’ would be a better word to describe Druzhba’78 brand of hockey. They have even been referred to as Globetrotters on ice. Not only can this group of Ukrainian bantams out-skate its opponents, but also out-stickhandle and out-maneuver. Combine these key elements and you have yourself a great hockey team. Add one more important ingredient - conditioning - and you have yourself and even better club - one that can take on anyone in its age category and win consistently from one day to the next” – Bart Cummins, Kamloops This Week.

“Watching Team Druzhba’78, a hockey team composed of 14 year old boys, is like watching team Harlem Globe Trotters on ice.” - Chicago Daily Herald.

" They not simply played - they have shown a holiday of hockey! It was not a difference between a team from Kharkov and other teams on the tournament, it was the difference between the hockey worlds!” - Westfalische Rundschau, Germany.

“They play like the Red Army team that dominated international hockey for two decades. They use a quick-passing, attacking-from-transition style taken right out of any respected European hockey manual…They have been called everything from the Harlem Globe Trotters on Ice to the Dream Team” - Glen Dawkins, The Baltimore Sun.

“Individual skill of the players of "Druzhba’78" is very high. They do not play roughly, they play fair play. They play in another hockey, which we do not know …” - Miroslav Vojtisek, Hockey Challenge International, Czech Republic.

Dainius Zubrus, a first round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1996 at age 18 and now New Jersey Devils star was a student of Ivan Pravilov from age 8 to 18, and played on the steller Team Druzhba’78.
Numerous other players from the original Druzhba’78 team and many Ivan Pravilov’s students play in the National Hockey League, European Leagues and other North American minor professional leagues.

Many of well-knowing hockey specialists believe that Ivan Pravilov’s Unique Hockey School is the most intense, progressive, and innovative hockey instructional program in the world.

Coach
Ivan Pravilov
President, Head Coach of Druzhba'78 Hockey Club & School

Ivan Pravilov was born in Kharkov, Ukraine on January 22, 1963.
He played professional soccer. Later his interests turned to hockey when in 1980 the first indoor hockey arena was built. His proficiency in soccer and hockey led him to coaching the youth in the city of Kharkov. Through his great selection work “Druzhba’78” became into being. The youths had not experienced skating and it was very novel to them and within a few years he fashioned an excellent hockey team. His dedication to coaching and his love of sport is reflected by the many notable achievements by team “Druzhba’78”.
Ivan Pravilov is considered to be one of Europe’s finest power skating coaches. He believes that the talent level of hockey players is directly related to their skating ability. For this reason, Ivan Pravilov’s Unique Hockey School focuses on developing skating power and finesse. By using specialized power-skating drills and dry-land training exercises, Pravilov breaks the vital elements of skating down to a science. His goal is to significantly improve the skating ability of each student.
The results of concentrated study and coaching undertaken by Ivan Pravilov over a 20-year span has enabled him to become one of most authoritative persons working with youth hockey players. This recognition has been achieved by successful achievements in hockey tournaments and friendship matches in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Russia and Belarus. Ivan Pravilov is a Head Coach of the National Team of Ukraine (U-18).
